Chinese Sweet and Sour Pork Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 1/2 pounds rib eye steak boneless 
  • 1/2 small pear grated
  • 1/4 cup sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 3 cloves minced garlic, 
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang 
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 green onions
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

DIRECTIONS: 

  1. Freeze steak for 30 minutes after wrapping it in plastic wrap. Take the package off, then cut 1/4-inch-thick slices against the grain.
  2. Combine the pear, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and gochujang in a medium bowl. Combine the soy sauce mixture and the steak in a gallon-size Ziploc bag, and marinate for at least two hours or overnight while occasionally turning the bag.
  3. In a cast iron grill pan set to medium-high heat, warm 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Working in batches, transfer the steak to the grill pan in a single layer and cook for 3 minutes each side, rotating once, or until browned and thoroughly cooked. Steak and the final tablespoon of vegetable oil should be used once more.
  4. Serve right away, if preferred topped with sesame seeds and green onions.
