Use only fire-roasted tomatoes. In the US, most grocery stores are now carrying fire-roasted tomatoes. Use the finest tomatoes you can locate if you can’t find them.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ball of pizza dough or thin crust dough
  • 13 cup homemade pizza sauce
  • 2 to 3 ounces mozzarella or 3 to 4 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 3 Tbs  of the basil pesto 
  • cornmeal for dusting the pizza peel

How to Make an Italian Pizza Recipe:

  • Getting ready to make the pizza dough
  • Heat the oven to 500°F and add a pizza stone.

  • Get the cheese ready! If using, slice fresh mozzarella cheese into pieces that are 1/4 inch thick (see the photo). 
  • When the oven is ready, sprinkle cornmeal or semolina flour on a pizza peel and bake the pizza. (You can use the back of a rimmed baking sheet or a rimless baking sheet if you don’t have a pizza peel. However, the cost of a pizza peel is certainly worth it!   • In a thin layer, spread the pizza sauce over the dough with the back of a spoon. 
  • Transfer the pizza gingerly onto the heated pizza stone using the pizza peel. pizza in the oven until the cheese and dough  well brown.
