Lahori Chicken Hareesa Recipe

Ingredients: 

Chicken Ingredients:

Kg Boneless Chicken

1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

Oil, 1/4 Cup

Green Chili 5 to 10 (Chopped)

Coriander Powder (2 tbsp)

Cumin Powder, 1 tsp.

Turmeric Powder (1/2 tsp)

Black Pepper Powder, 1 tsp.

1 and 1/2 teaspoons red chili powder

Salt, 1 tsp.

four cups of water

Daal Ingredients:

1 cup (soaked overnight) wheat

Split Green Gram with Skin: 1 cup (soaked for 5 hours)

5 hours of soak

1 liter water

Kabab Ingredients:

Chicken Mince (200 gms)

4 tablespoons oil

Ginger Garlic Paste, 1/2 tsp

How to Make Lahori Chicken Hareesa?

Step 1 (Chicken Preparation) Heat the oil in a pot, add the ginger and garlic paste, and stir-fry them for a few seconds. Add the boneless chicken, and stir-fry it for 3 minutes on medium heat, or until the color changes. Then, add 4 cups of water, stir, and cover the pan with a lid. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes on medium heat, or until the water has evaporated. After that, add salt, red chili powder, black pepper powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and green chili.Then take off the lid, extinguish the flame, and shred it thoroughly.

Step 2 (Daal Preparation) At this time, add 1 liter of water, soaked wheat, split green gramme with skin, and rice to a pressure cooker (patila). In the pressure cooker or patila, stir it, put a lid on top, and cook it for 30 minutes over medium to low heat. After that, put out the flame and thoroughly smash it.

Step 3 (Kabab Making) At this point, take a bowl and combine the chicken mince, ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, salt, and garam masala powder. Add a few drops of oil and stir well. Next, form tiny kebabs out of the mixture and shallow fry them in 4 tbsp of oil.

Step 4: (Hareesa Preparation) Using a big pot, combine the daal paste from steps 2 and 1 with the chicken shreds from step 1, mixing well. Add 2 glasses of water, toss, and cook for 10 minutes over medium heat while continuing to stir.

Step 5: (Tarka Preparation) Then, take a pan, add ghee, add spinach paste, and stir to lightly brown it before adding it to the hareesa pot and cooking it for 5 minutes over medium heat.
